The Rider of the Year Awards video was premiered last night in front of an enthusiastic audience of around 500 people at the Paddle Expo in Germany.  Watch the Video here:


Winners:
Hendri Coetzee Award for Expedition of the Year:
Taking almost 100% of the 1st place votes was the First Ascents supported Africa expedition with team members Ben Stookesberry, Chris Korbulic and the late Hendri Coetzee.  Click HERE for the nomination with links to more info on the expedition.

Rider of the Year (women):
Mariann Saether took home top honours in the womens Rider of the Year category after yet another year spent on difficult whitewater around the world.  Close behind was Louise Urwin, Grand Prix Champion and all-around talent from New Zealand.

Huge thanks to everyone that participated in the event, some awesome submissions and lots of great kayaking to watch.
Viewership on the uploaded clips is around 125,000 views so far + another ~130,000 views from the different places the 'Rider of the Year II Preview' was uploaded.

The Rider of the Year Awards celebrate and showcase the best in whitewater.  The event combines athlete submitted videos of hard drops and big tricks with nomination based entries for the premiere categories.

Submission guidelines:
Those wishing to submit clips make sure to follow these steps:
1. Sign up for a login ( from the homepage click 'signup with facebook' ... from this link you are also able to sign up without a facebook account )
2. Now in your account, edit your sponsor info, website, etc to your own fitting.
3. Export your clip using the vimeo compression guidelines or send the original file.  If you are using GoPro files, make sure to convert the files to Quicktime (.mov) files... You can do that with Mpeg Streamcilp, available free HERE.
4. Send unedited, full res clips to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it - MAKE SURE to leave 1 second on either side of the completed move/drop.
