There are many amazing paddlers out there getting after creeks, expeditions, and big waterfalls around the world, but very few are doing it on a year round basis, day after day. Evan Garcia, in my opinion, is the best creek boater in the world right now. Some might ask how I define "the best" with so many amazing paddlers in the scene. I think what separates Evan from the pack is his consistency on the water. Anyone who has paddled with him knows he has an ability to make precise and calculated decisions, and stick his line 99% of the time. In addition, I have never met anyone able to remember so many runs and drops, even years after paddling them. The 2010/2011 season saw E.G. all over the world running big waterfalls and steep creeks throughout Chile, Mexico, Canada, U.S.A., and Argentina. He also had solid placings at the Grand Prix with two first place finishes in the races. Although his passion for freestyle is maybe not on par with his drive for extreme kayaking, he is still a well rounded wave surfer and hole rider. I nominate E.G. for Rider Of The Year because he is one of the most driven athletes i've ever worked with, and you'll be pressed to find anyone else as passionate about kayaking. He also throws a mean brown claw.
